"Jack's Easter"

Since we'll be in Michigan for Easter this year, Marc and I decided to have his side of the family over for brunch the Sunday prior to Easter (technically Palm Sunday). Jack's 4 1/2 year-old cousin Kody referred to our little get-together as "Jack's Easter", which is awfully cute. Apparently on Satuday night he told his mom good night, and that he'd see her in the morning for Jack's Easter. I just love my nephew and the things that come out of his mouth!
How do you celebrate Jack's Easter? By climbing a tree, of course!

Anyway, Jack's Easter turned out great. Good company, good food and good weather, which is shockingly rare this spring. All in all, a perfect day. I'm looking forward to many more Jack holidays spent with family!

School Pictures

Jack got his first "school picture" taken at daycare a couple of weeks ago. I have to say, it's not the best. Jack is a pretty cute kid (although I may be a teeny bit biased...) and he loves to smile and laugh, but the school photographer definitely didn't capture that side of him. Oh well, I think everyone out there has at least one bad school picture - maybe Jack just got his out of the way very early in life!
EDITED TO ADD: I do love this photo, though, even though Jack looks sad. It's a picture of my baby boy, how could I NOT love it? As it says in one of our favorite books, "I Love You Through and Through"...I love his giggles, and cries. I can't get enough of that face, even if it looks sad!

Fortunately, we got his 6-month pictures taken at a studio, and they came out much better! THIS looks more like the baby that I know!

A Trip to the Mystic Aquarium

When Grandma Carol was in town, we took Jack on his first trip to the Mystic Aquarium. I am not a huge fan of zoos due to the whole caged animal business, but for some reason I do not feel the same sad desperation at aquariums. I unequivocally love them. I was hoping that Jack would also love them, and he did not let me down.

We are so fortunate to have many family-friendly destinations near our home, and the aquarium is one that I suspect we'll frequent for years to come. It really does appeal to all ages - Jack was mesmerized by the sea animals and my mom and I both loved its relaxing calmness. Plus it was so neat to see Jack's reaction to the fish. He doesn't know yet to be afraid of sharks or eels, so he viewed them with the same fascination as the oh-so adorable beluga whales. I will admit that both my mom and I were horrified by the moray eels...gross gross gross! All in all, it was a great afternoon spent in great company, and I can't wait to do it again.

Spring Celebrations!

We've had plenty to celebrate around our household lately. Today is Jack's Grandpa Carl's birthday, and we all wish him a very happy one! We miss and love you, Dad, and can't wait to see you at Easter! (Happy Retirement, too!)

On March 31, Jack celebrated his big 7-month birthday as well as his first opening day of baseball. Opening Day usually signals the start of spring and while the calender may agree, Mother Nature has clearly not gotten the message. We actually got SNOW on Opening Day...brr!

Happy 7 Months Jackers!
Wondering where his Tigers shirt is? He's saving it for the World Series!

We were also fortunate to have Grandma Carol in town for a visit. We all had a great time, but the time sure flew by! Thank goodness for our upcoming Easter trip to Michigan!
