Happy Birthday, America!

America’s 235th birthday weekend was an eventful one in our household, but not the kind of eventful that I had hoped for…both Jack and I were sick with a stomach bug. Poor little Jack got sick in the middle of the night on Thursday, and it caught up to me on Saturday afternoon. If you’re wondering about Marc, he was afflicted by something I like to call the “Jagermeister flu” on Sunday but had a miraculous recovery the same day. Hmm. Despite all of the um…queasiness…going on in our lives, we still managed to somewhat enjoy our long weekend.

On Sunday, we went up to the lake to participate in their 4th of July boat parade. We managed to avoid the rain, and it was cute to see all of the boats decked out in red, white and blue. Marc’s sister and her husband had their annual Anniversary/Independence Day party that day as well, and we headed there after the parade. Jack and I had to leave before Marc set off his fireworks, but I hear they were very impressive. Unless whoever is reading this is in law enforcement. Then no, there were absolutely no fireworks at the party. Happy 3rd Anniversary Kate and Kris!!

We spent the actual 4th of July on the boat (again). It was a perfect day, sunny and hot, and it was so nice to be able to float around in the water for a bit. Jack and I were still a tiny bit under the weather, but all in all it was a good day spent with friends and family.
